AGN statistics of simultaneous radio and gamma ray observations.
Abstract
We investigate the behaviour of flat-spectrum radio quasars (FSRQ) in multifrequency radio observations with the 100-m-Effelsberg telescope taken quasi-simultaneously with high energy γ-ray observations during phases 1 and 2 of the EGRET campaign. We find that FSRQ which are detected by EGRET show at the time of the γ-ray detection a more active behaviour in the radio band compared to FSRQ which are not detected by EGRET at any time. No correlation is found between the 2.8cm flux density and the simultaneously observed γ-ray flux (>100MeV), or between the 2.8cm-to-6cm radio spectral index and the integrated γ-ray flux. Our data support an earlier finding that AGN are preferentially detected in high energy γ-rays when they are in an increasing radio state.
